Pura Materials is a bio-based material solutions company based in Bangalore, India. We develop and bring to market application-specific bio-based material solutions for industrial buyers in automotive, footwear, furniture, and fashion.
Most bio-based materials never reach industrial scale — not because the science is weak, but because the commercial infrastructure is missing. Nobody owns the application development, the industrial validation, the supply chain integration, and the commercial pathway simultaneously. That is why Piñatex, Mylo, and MycoWorks all failed — not in the lab, but at the bridge between innovation and industrial adoption.
Pura owns that bridge. We start with what industrial buyers actually need — their specifications, their price targets, their manufacturing constraints — and develop toward that. We are honest about what is achievable today and what requires development. We do not oversell. We do not raise capital on material stories and then discover the market at the worst possible moment.
The material science happens. We make sure it also ships.
Our first material is a plant-based, plastic-free leather alternative — no PU, no PVC, no synthetic polymers at any stage, completely biodegradable — developed for industrial applications where leather is most used and most actively being replaced.
